Royal Conservatory Examinations

Royal Conservatory examinations provide a national standard for students, parents and teachers to track and measure progress and achievements. Preparing for and successfully completing an examination builds self-confidence and helps students develop a sense of pride.

The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program provides a recognized national standard of success through an effectively sequenced course of study from beginner to advanced levels. Practical (performance) and Theory examinations are conducted at the University of Utah and Weber State University.

Practical: Assessments evaluate the performance of repertoire, etudes, technical tests, aural skills, and sight reading.

Theory: Examinations evaluate the understanding of the building blocks of music, from the basics of notation at the Elementary levels to the structural harmonic analysis at the Advanced levels.

The study of these subjects plays an essential role in developing musicianship and performance skills. The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program allows students to measure and celebrate accomplishment and track their progress across the country.
